Press Release

Life awarded IBM recognition for IBM eServer i5 Linux & Windows implementations.

IBM Business Partner, Life IT, has achieved recognition from IBM for its ability to implement Linux and Windows Integration solutions on IBM eServer i5 systems.

The company has achieved this over a period of time through substantial investment in technical skills and certifications - focused on delivering a high standard of solution design, implementation and customer support. Partners who were selected for the recognition were seen to have invested in skills, certifications and demonstrations.

“This recognition will further highlight the value Life IT adds to the iSeries Business in the UK to both its own customers and to IBM,” said Amanda Stockley, UKISA Business Partner Technical Manager for iSeries at IBM.

“We are delighted to receive this recognition from IBM,” said Jill Sherratt, managing director of Life IT. “We are one of only eight partners to have been given this award and it further demonstrates our expertise and capability to provide support for clients whose systems run on iSeries.

According to John Chalk, the infamous iSeries evangelist, Life’s success is down to its ability to talk strategy rather than tactics, guiding its customers down the path to a defined goal.
“The main difference between Life IT and its competitors is that Life IT concentrates on skills,” he said. “Its Premier Partner status is based on the skill set of its staff rather than the 'tin' that is shifted. This skill set gives the company the ability to design and manage complex systems. Where, in the past, multiple vendors would need to be involved, Life IT has the depth and breadth of knowledge and skills to offer customers a 'one stop shop'.”

These days Windows & Linux servers, even those that started as ‘pilot servers’, have become mission critical systems in their own right. As the number of servers increases so does the number of tasks required to keep the systems running. Systems Administrators within small and medium sized businesses are under tremendous pressure to provide inexpensive enterprise-class management of these ‘Server Farms’.

According to Jill Sherratt, all of its iSeries and AS400 customers should consider deploying some of their Windows and Linux servers on iSeries to take advantage of the server’s enterprise-class management, performance, availability and security.

“Not only does this reduce the time IT staff spend administering their Windows & Linux systems, but also significantly reduces costs, as there is no need for separate management tools & software licenses,” she said.
